Ministry of Health National Online Access for Health System (NOAH)

NOAH allows New Zealand Health Providers remote access to the information held in the National Health Index (NHI) database. The National Health Index holds information on every New Zealander, including medical history, donor status and contact information.

For ease-of-use and flexibility, NOAH features the revolutionary Amber front end. Transactions between the Amber GUI and the National Health Index database are conducted using the health-specific HL7 protocol, facilitated by the Java implementation of Clearfield's HL7 messaging engine.

NOAH includes high security, utilising mutual certificate authentication/authorisation, which effectively and transparently restricts accesss to the system to users with appropriate access rights.

Project overview:

  • Easy to use Amber front end for New Zealand's National Health Index
  • Front end runs in a Java-enabled browser
  • High security with 128-bit mutual certificate authentication
  • Transactions are conducted using the standard HL7 protocol
  • Seamlessly interfaces with existing National Health Index technology

Technology:
