Virtual Katy is a widely-used tool in the movie industry to bring audio tracks into sync with video after the
video has been edited. During the post production phase, sound engineers have to manually go through
a movie or TV episode and arrange the audio to correctly match the video. If the video is edited or re-cut, the process needs to
be done again, a time-consuming process.
Virtual Katy is a program which automates the process of re-syncing sound. It handles a large chunk of the
manual labour previously done by hand, greatly simplifying the lives of sound engineers.
Clearfield originally became involved with Virtual Katy to help fix bugs, and since taken over the
development of the product, in both its Windows and Macintosh incarnations. Virtual Katy has been recently
enhanced with a swag of brand new features, such as support for the Nuendo sound editing
(in addition to its traditional support for Pro Tools).
